Students will be assessed on the linguistics component of this unit by an unseen examination.  They will be expected to show that they know and understand the taught content of this unit and that they have carried out the recommended reading.  Part of their assessment will require them to provide examples from BSL to illustrate their theoretical linguistic ideas.  These illustrative examples should be drawn from lectures, practical analyses and group discussions.  Students are not expected to provide examples that they have not come across during their study of the unit.
