Welcome!

The Bristol Debating Union (BDU) is Bristol University's foremost society for debate of the big issues. We meet every Wednesday evening for training, debating and social events. The Bristol Debating Union sends teams to Intervarsity competitions most weekends and hosts its own highly successful intervarsity competition yearly.

The Bristol Debating Union is a forum for public debate run by a committee of students at Bristol University. We host regular debates and training and we hold internal competitions throughout the year, including the Battle of the Halls, the Winston Cup, and the Yule Cup. We send teams to all the major Inter-varsity competitions and host two of our own: the Bristol IV and the Bristol Open. The BDU also hosts high profile public debates, a Schools competition, an annual formal dinner, and frequent social events.

If you are interested in joining then take a look at the calendar, come along to the next event and introduce yourself to a committee member. If you have any questions or want more information about the Bristol Debating Union, just send an e-mail to any of the Committee members on the Committee page or contact debating@bristoldebating.co.uk.
