Mailing Lists

There are now two mailing lists that you may subscribe to. Some members in previous years got a bit fed up with silly jokes and mail being sent back and forth and so a separate mailing list has been set up purely for jokes and chat. The Bristol Univeristy mailing list will remain as the official mailing list used by the committee and other members and should only be used to discuss things relevant to the club. The YahooGroups mailing list is for jokes, chat and basically whatever anyone wants to send. At the start of the year everyone will be automatically added to the Bristol list but you will have to subscribe to the YahooGroups list yourself. See below for details about how to do this.

Sending a message to a list

Simply send your message to bris-jitsu@bristol.ac.uk or brisjitsuchat@yahoogroups.com.

PLEASE NOTE: Sending a message to either of these addresses will send a message to the WHOLE CLUB. If you have any enquiries about the club which do not warrant the attention of every member please just send a message to Michael Vishnyakov , the club captain, instead of to the whole list.

How to subscribe to a mailing list

The Official Club List:

The simplest way to subscribe to the Ju-Jitsu Club mailing list, is pass on your name and e-mail address to either Jo or another member of the commitee at training, or in the pub (preferably when they are reasonably sober!).

Alternatively you may subscribe by e-mail. Send a message to Majordomo, containing the line:

subscribe bris-jitsu

You will be sent an automated response asking you to confirm these instructions. Then assuming you are eligible (you must be a club member) you will be added to the list.

To unsubscribe yourself from this mailing list, you can send an email to majordomo@bristol.ac.uk with the following command in the body of your email message:

unsubscribe bris-jitsu

Please don't forget, this list is for club-related messages ONLY. Jokes, chain-letters, quizes, photos, songs, poems, and funny anecdotes of what happened last night with whatername's sister should be restricted to the YahooGroups chat list.

The YahooGroups "chat" list:

Send a blank email to brisjitsuchat-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You will then receive an email reply. Follow the instructions in the email and on the YahooGroups website and you'll be able to find out more about the list.
