School closures

The University of Bristol is aware of a high number of school and university closures globally, which are anticipated to be ongoing for some time. The University will continue to monitor the situation closely but understand that students will be concerned about the impact of school closures on their studies.

If we have requested further information from you regarding your application, we appreciate that it may take longer than expected for you to respond. At this stage, you do not need to submit an extenuating circumstances form to explain your situation. If the situation changes, we will be in touch with applicants.

IELTS tests

We are aware that many students have been unable book the Secure English Language Test (SELT) or UKVI IELTS. On our entry requirements page, you will find details of alternative English language tests we are accepting for 2020 entry.

14-week pre-sessional 2020

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, we have decided to withdraw the 14-week pre-sessional programme planned to start on 22 May 2020. We have contacted 14-week pre-sessional applicants with alternative arrangements.

10-week and 6-week pre-sessional 2020

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, we have decided to make the 10-week and 6-week pre-sessional online only. There will be no 'on campus' 10-week or 6-week pre-sessional in 2020. We have contacted 'on campus' 10-week and 6-week pre-sessional applicants with alternative arrangements.
