How do I get access to staff and students from other schools?
In many areas, school administrators will be able to change the tutorial group that a student is allocated to. More information is available in the administrator's section. If there is no one in your school who has access to allocate students, you should contact your Faculty Timetabling and Education Officer to ask for the student to be moved. You could also discuss whether someone in the school could be given this access with your FTEO.
How do I produce student registers for group teaching?
If you have access to the Syllabus+ system to change students allocations, you will be able to run a special registers program to produce class lists and registers. More information on this is available in the administrator's section.

Why don't I have a personalised timetable?
You will only see a personalised timetable if you are scheduled to deliver teaching in Syllabus+, and if you are recognised as a member of staff by the university (so are registered on PIMS).
The message on the portal will indicate whether or not the system recognises you as a member of staff or a student. If the message on the portal indicates you are only recognised as a student you will not be able access your timetable. You should contact your school to try and resolve this. School administrators or your FTEO will be able to impersonate you on the portal to provide you with a copy of your timetable as a temporary measure.
If the message on the portal indicates that you have been recognised as a member of staff, you should check with your FTEO to see if you have teaching scheduled on Syllabus+. If not, you will need to inform them what you are expecting to teach. If you are scheduled for teaching and still cannot see your timetable, the FTEO should escalate the issue to the Timetabling System Support Officer.

Students
Why don't I have a personalised timetable?
You should always ask your school office about problems you have with your timetable.
There are a few reasons why you may not be able to see a personalised timetable.
You may not be allocated to any teaching in the university timetabling system. Administrative staff in your school can impersonate students and so can check to see if there is a timetable available for you.
If there is a timetable available but you cannot access it:
Your registration on the university IT systems may be incomplete which will prevent access to your timetable. This will usually resolve itself overnight.
You may have removed the timetabling channel from your layout. To test this, go to the home tab in the portal and look at the 'Content Finder' section. The personalised timetable channel is usually visible in this section. Try clicking on this - and select 'Add to my layout' if that is offered as a option.
If you still cannot access your timetable, please contact the service desk.
How do I know if all of my teaching is showing?
If you are registered on a unit, you should see teaching for that unit displayed on your timetable, except for dissertation and project units. It takes a minimum of two days for teaching to appear on your timetable after you register on a unit. You can check which units you are registered on StudentInfo. If you cannot see teaching for all your units you should check the unit timetables to see what teaching is delivered on the missing unit. If teaching does not appear on your timetable three days after you register on a unit, please contact your school office.
Why is my teaching so spread out?
The University has to provide teaching to approximately 15,000 students and 3,000 teaching staff using 750 locations. Students take a wide range of unit choices and all combinations have to be accommodated. Achieving this is a very challenging task that requires all the time slots in the teaching week to be fully utilized. This makes it impossible to provide 'perfect' timetables for each individual student.
How do I know what group I am in for tutorials and seminars?
Your individual tutorial and seminar sessions will show on your personalised timetable. The name of the activity will usually indicate which group you are in. If your personalised timetable is not showing all your group teaching, you can check the unit timetables to see all teaching for a particular unit, and check with your school office to find out which session you should attend.
How do I know what group I am in for labs?
Your personalised timetable will show you the lab slots you have been assigned to, but you will need to contact your school to find out which group you have been assigned to. The school may also have more detailed lab timetables showing you exactly which weeks you need to attend labs, and what activities you will be doing each week.
