About the role

Applications are invited for the voluntary role of Senior Resident in University of Bristol Residences for 2013/14.

The responsibilities of the role include:

• To offer general pastoral care to an allocated group of students within the hall.
• To support the social and cultural life of the student community
• To participate in a duty rota, which requires the presence of the Senior Resident in hall during the period of duty, and to be available to respond to emergencies, as well as dealing with other matters that may require immediate attention.  (The duty rota covers the full period of the Senior Resident appointment, including the Easter and part of the summer vacations.)
• To be resident in hall during term time and for any period of duty during vacations
• To occupy specified accommodation in hall

Senior Residents in catered and self-catered halls currently pay reduced accommodation fees. Fees for Senior Residents in student houses vary. The Senior Resident tenancy normally runs two weeks before the start and two weeks after the end of the accommodation contract.

How to apply

To avoid making multiple applications you can name a first, second and third choice of residence. If there are no vacant positions at your first choice, your application will be directed to your second choice and so on.

In acknowledgement of the fact that many postgraduate applicants may not have offers or funding in place for some months a proportion of the Senior Resident vacancies will be held open until September.

About the role

Applications are invited for the voluntary role of Senior Resident in University of Bristol Residences for 2013/14. Senior Residents enjoy a 65% subsidy on their rent and will be housed in studios or flats shared only with other senior residents. In University-partnered accommodation, the Senior Resident's role focuses on the welfare of the first year students under your care and on promoting the social and cultural life of the student community. You will join a team of over 20 Senior Residents and will have the support of Wardens, Deputy Wardens and Student Support Administrators.

There is a duty rota; when on duty (no more than once a week), Senior Residents will have the duty mobile phone and must stay within half an hour of the residence. Senior Residents are not expected to look after the building or deal with lock-outs or repairs as these are managed by the buildings’ owners Unite PLC. You are required to be present during vacations. As there is no on-site Warden or Student Support Administrator, you will take more responsibility for pastoral care and the community within the building.

Senior Residents must attend two days of training and one evening event during the fortnight prior to the start of the tenancy (21 September). You can usually move into your own room early, if not, accommodation will be provided.

The Senior Resident tenancy is 43 weeks in length. We will be able to extend this to 50 weeks (at a reduced rate) if required. Please enquire about this after your appointment as a Senior Resident has been confirmed.

Applications are invited for the voluntary role of Senior Resident in Postgraduate Residences for 2013/14. Senior Residents for postgraduates enjoy a 50% subsidy on their rent and will be housed in self contained studios or en suite rooms There is a duty rota; when on duty, Senior Residents will have the duty mobile phone and must stay within half an hour of the residence. Senior residents in postgraduate residences are expected to provide support and information for the (mainly) international students living in these properties. Assistance will be primarily in the form of signposting and Senior Residents will be supported by the Deputy Head Warden.

Senior Residents must attend two days of training and one evening event during the fortnight prior to the start of the tenancy. You can usually move into your own room early, if not, accommodation will be provided.

The Senior Resident tenancy is 50 weeks in length.

About the role

A2Dominion Housing Group manages two residences in partnership with the University of Bristol, a postgraduate residence at Deans Court in the City Centre and a second, Woodland Court located on Belgrave Road close to the University precinct.

We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our existing team of wardens and staff. The wardens form an integral part of the service provided to students by A2Dominion and work closely with the on site staff team.

Main duties include:

• Providing an out of hours duty service on a rota basis, dealing with any emergencies/problems that may arise
• Completing inventories and collecting or issuing of keys during arrival and departure weekends
• Participating in the development and running of resident involvement & community building events such as welcome parties and resident meetings
• Attending monthly meetings with the site management team

In return you will receive a 50% rent reduction plus full training & support from A2Dominion in the carrying out of your duties. Please note you must be a student of the University of Bristol in the academic year 2013-14 to apply for the posts.
