Five of our undergraduate residences are catered, offering together, over 1700 catered places in our accommodation.
Living in a catered residence can make budgeting easier since your meals are included in the accommodation fee, and mealtimes are an opportunity for meeting friends and building the hall community.
Catered residences provide a breakfast and evening meal during the week and breakfast and lunch at weekends during term time. Although serving times are fixed, it is possible to order a late meal or packed meal in advance to collect from your own residence. During the Christmas and Easter vacations, meals are served from a central location. Seasonal hampers are given to students who remain in catered halls over the Christmas and Easter Bank Holidays containing freshly prepared, ready to cook meals, fresh fruit, and seasonal treats.
The catered residences offer freshly cooked, varied menus and cater for a range of diets. A vegetarian and vegan option is offered with every meal and Monday’s have now become completely meat-free. If you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements you can talk to the residence's catering team who will be happy to provide an alternative option.
The catering team take great pride in the standard of their food and menus. Fairtrade or local produce is sourced where possible. All catered residences provide you with the facilities to cook light meals including a toaster, kettle and microwave or hob.

Meal cards for self-catered residences
To ensure that only people within the catered hall bubbles access the dining rooms, meal cards and guest meals will not be available to non-catered students for term one, possibly for the whole year.
Five of our residences are catered. The cost of catering included in the rent for these residences works out at around £54 per week.
