The Unite Foundation Scholarship
The Unite Foundation Scholarship for 2017/18 comprises provision of free en suite accommodation in Unite House for three separate years.
Eligible students must be a full time, undergraduate, UK, home fee status student 25 years old or under at enrolment in any academic year and must have met the principle scheme criteria of care leaver OR estranged, as below:
- Care leaver - a formal status that can begin at age 16 and lasts until aged 21, or aged 25 if in higher education. There are several different categories of care leaver but all legal definitions are eligible for the Unite Foundation Scholarship Scheme.
- Estranged from family - if you are estranged from both of your biological, adoptive parents, or only living parent, you will be eligible to apply for the Unite Foundation Scholarship Scheme as an estranged student. Student Finance considers you an independent student on the basis of being estranged from your parents if you have not had verbal or written contact with both of your biological, adoptive or only living parent for a significant period of time and your estrangement is irreconcilable.
How to apply
If you believe you may be eligible for this scholarship, you can apply via the online application form:
Please note, it is important that you still apply for accommodation in the normal way. You do not need to put Unite House as your preference if you don't want to live there. You should only put Unite House as your first preference if you want to live there, regardless of whether or not you receive a scholarship.
