London Branch of University of Bristol Alumni Association Annual Lecture and AGM

Jan Dalley
The London Branch of University of Bristol Alumni welcomes Jan Dalley (BA 1973), Arts Editor of the Financial Times (FT) and author, who will give the Annual Lecture for 2013 on 'Gates of Eden: Art in the time of money'.

Jan Dalley is the author of the biography Diana Mosley and has penned numerous features and reviews on the arts and books, as well as a fortnightly column in the FT Weekend section. Jan's most recent book is The Black Hole, an account of the infamous Black Hole of Calcutta.

The Chancellor of the University, Right Hon Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE (Hon LLD 2002) will preside, alongside the Vice Chancellor Professor Sir Eric Thomas (Hon LLD 2004) who will give the vote of thanks.

The event will take place in the Weston Roof Pavilion on the sixth floor of the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre, which commands extraordinary views over the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and the River Thames. The Southbank Centre has generously made the room available for the event - with thanks to Shân Maclennan (BA 1983), Director of Participation & Learning, and Rebecca Preston (BA 1992), Director of Development.

The current term of office for the Chairman of the London Branch will finish at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Anyone who wishes to stand for this role is asked to contact the Volunteers Officer at alumni@bristol.ac.uk.

Cost: £25 including reception.
