Hong Kong | Bristol Connects: career insights

Join your fellow alumni for a career expert panel and networking reception in Hong Kong on Thursday 2 October 2017 from 7 pm.

The evening will begin with a panel of University of Bristol alumni experts, speaking about how to make the most of your career. There will be plenty of time for you to put your questions to our panel of experts from a variety of industries and professions. Our panellists have well-established careers in Hong Kong so do come and meet them and learn from their expertise and experience since leaving Bristol. You’ll be able to gain insights and make connections that could help you secure your graduate career or take the next step up.

The panel event will be hosted by Dr Erik Lithander, Pro Vice-Chancellor for External Relations, and will be chaired by Kenneth Ng (MSc International Development 2011). Kenneth, who has recently secured a new role as political assistant to the secretary for constitutional and mainland affairs, is a very experienced television broadcaster, making him ideal to chair our panel of alumni experts. He is looking forward to hearing your questions.

The panel will be made up of experienced alumni experts:

  • Steve Cheng (LLB 2009), Associate, Morrison & Foerster LLP, can advise on securing roles in the legal sector and answer your questions about networking, as one of the leading members of the Bristol Young Lawyers
  • Marc Entwistle (MEng Computer Science 2007), Asia-Pacific FinTech Specialist, Ernst & Young, is a senior manager and experienced mentor who can advise on the growing FinTech industry, careers in consultancy and career development
  • Derek Wu (MEng Aeronautical Engineering 2001), CEO Future Lighting, is an IT professional and engineer turned entrepreneur who can share his experiences both across these sectors and in growing a business

Further panellists are to be announced. Following the panel event, you will have the opportunity to meet more members of the Hong Kong alumni network and its distinguished guests. You can reconnect with old friends and take this chance to meet other alumni who can widen your professional circle in a relaxed environment over food and drinks.

The Bristol Connects event is open to all alumni but will be most suited to recent graduates, and will begin at 7 pm.
