CANCELLED: Cambridge Branch Spring Lecture: Art in the Afternoon

4 April 2020, 3.30 PM - 4 April 2020, 7.30 PM

Murray Edwards College, Huntingdon Road, Cambridge

CANCELLED due to public health concerns

Join the Cambridge Branch of the University of Bristol Alumni for their Spring Lecture this April.

This year’s lecture will be centred on The New Hall Art Collection. This is the largest collection of art by women in Europe and is on display throughout Murray Edwards College.

At 3.45 pm alumni and friends are invited to join Harriet Loffler (BA 2007), Curator of the New Hall Art Collection at Murray Edwards College, on a tour of paintings, sculptures and pottery, including areas not normally open to the public. Harriet will also explain more about her work as a Curator.

From 5 pm alumni and friends will have the opportunity to hear from Charlotte Hodes, a leading figure in contemporary art. Charlotte's work profiles her long-standing engagement with the cross-overs between the fine and decorative arts. She brings her considerable experience as a painter to both her extraordinarily intricate papercuts and large-scale installations in which ready-made ceramic ware serves as her alternative canvas.

At 6 pm, there will be a chance to chat with fellow alumni and friends at a drinks reception in the Fellow’s Drawing Room.

The tour will be preceded by a short AGM, to which all alumni are welcome, which will start at 3.30 pm

Cost: Tickets cost £20.00
