Alumni Weekend 2013 - The Best of Bristol

The Alumni Weekend 2013 was abuzz with alumni and friends who returned to their alma mater to catch up with old friends, reminisce, and rediscover the University today. Over the course of three days, alumni enjoyed a jam-packed schedule of tours, lectures, reunion lunches, dinners and all in the glorious sunshine.

The weekend’s highlights included a picturesque boat tour around the harbour side, a tour up the Wills Memorial Tower to see panoramic views of Bristol, and an opportunity to see the new Life Sciences Building development. We also had Dr Bradley Stephens, a world authority on Victor Hugo, who brought an infectious passion to his captivated audience, and presented an enriching insight into the film adaptations of Hugo’s novel Les Misérables.

For the reunion lunches, alumni and friends sheltered from the scorching midday heat in the refreshingly cool Wills Memorial Building, where we celebrated those who graduated in 2003, 1993, 1983, 1973, 1963 and earlier, in the grandiose setting of the Great Hall where many would have received their degree certificate decade(s) before.
