Deloitte

Gerry Boon is a Consultant and former Partner at Deloitte, the international accounting and consulting company, where he created and led the company’s Sports Business Group.

In 1991 Gerry created the first Deloitte Annual Review of Football Finance, the definitive guide to the financial and commercial facts and figures in UK football. Over the years, the Review has charted the game’s turbulent growth into a vast commercial enterprise. He also founded the company’s Sports Business Group, and during the 1990s built it up into the UK’s leading provider of sports business services and consultancy.

Gerry has worked with many of sport’s major national and international governing bodies. In football he has advised the Danish Football League, the English Football Association, the FA Premier League, the Greek Football League, the Scottish Premier League, the Swiss Football League and UEFA. In other sports, he has advised the British Equestrian Federation, English First Division Rugby, the Irish Rugby Union, the Lawn Tennis Association, the Racecourse Holdings Trust, the Rugby Football League, World Snooker and UK Sport.

In addition, in the UK he has provided advice to over half of the Premiership’s member clubs, eleven Football League clubs; and, in Europe, to a number of the leading clubs, such as AC Milan, Ajax, Juventus, Lazio, Olympiakos, Real Madrid and Club Europe. Gerry has also worked with some of sport’s biggest corporate partners and sponsors, including Canal+, IMG, Nike and Octagon.

Gerry retired from Deloitte in 2005 and since then has acted as an expert witness in sports regulatory enquiries and disputes. He is a director of the British Association for Sport and Law. A keen sportsman in his own right, Gerry supports Oldham Athletic FC, is a member of Lancashire County Cricket Club and plays golf at Royal Birkdale Golf Club.
