How do I apply?

Fill in our online form. Applications close at 9 am on Monday 12 November 2018.

We will allocate our places using two main criteria:

Therefore, please give your answers careful consideration, and respond in full on the online form.

How much money do I need to raise?

We ask you to pledge to raise at least £2,000. The money you raise will go towards the Healthy Minds project, a physical activity intervention which taps into the benefits of exercise to support students encountering mental health difficulties while at university.

How will the money I raise be spent?

Physical activity has been proven to boost mood and reduce feelings of anxiety, stress and depression. This idea is at the heart of the Healthy Minds programme, which helps students affected by mental ill health to get more active and maintain this behaviour in a supported, friendly environment. The three-month user-led programme includes sessions with an activity mentor, a tailored activity plan and support for future health maintenance, as well as access to a range of classes, clubs and sporting opportunities.

The core programme, funded by the Department of Sport, Exercise and Health at the University of Bristol, has yielded clinically significant improvements in wellbeing (as recorded by the Student Counselling Service). It has positively impacted more than one hundred students over the past two years, including Isaac:

Your support will enable Healthy Minds to grow further. Every pound you raise will help the programme to support greater numbers of young people.

What will I receive?

Key dates:

If you are successful in applying for one of our seven bonds, you will receive further instruction on how to register your place officially with the Virgin Money London Marathon. The official deadline by which the London Marathon requires you to register your place is 5 pm on Friday 1 February 2019, however we ask all our Bristol runners to have registered by an internal deadline of 9 am on Monday 28 January 2019. If you have not registered your place by this date, or can’t show that you have started fundraising, we reserve the right to allocate your place to another runner. If you choose to withdraw from the race after this date, we cannot guarantee you a place in the 2020 event.
