A work by Bristol graduate David Ogden (BA 1988) was sung at a Mass in Washington DC led by Pope Benedict XVI in front of a congregation of 40,000 this April.

The anthem, entitled 'Love's redeeming work is done', is set for choir, brass, percussion and organ. The American church musician Thomas Stehle conducted the music for the mass, and he selected David piece to be included in the music line-up, the only British contribution alongside a number of contemporary American composers' works.

David is a professional conductor and directs choirs in Bristol as well as the Royal School of Church Music's Millennium Youth Choir, the RSCM regional Cathedral Singers, and courses and workshops throughout the UK and abroad. He was formerly Director of Music at Clifton Roman Catholic Cathedral in Bristol.
