The cast and crew of a 1989 Bristol student cabaret production are planning to reunite at a special event in London in May.

The original cabaret, put on by final year Modern Language students, consisted of around 25 songs all written by the 1960s Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel.

As well as celebrating the 20th anniversary of the cabaret, the reunion will also celebrate the University's centenary.

Mike Wilkins (BA 1989), who is organising the reunion, said: ‘20 years ago a bunch of students with a passion for Jacques Brel put on a cabaret show in French of his most famous songs. After three performances in Bristol, the show went on the road to Exeter and London Universities where it was an outstanding success. The reunion hopes to regroup the long-dispersed original cast and recreate some of the joie de vivre from the 1989 show.’

The group hope to be able to perform some of the original songs during the reunion.

The event will take place on 16 May 2009 at The Soho Revue Bar, 11 Walkers Court, Brewer Street, Soho. For more information, contact Mike Wilkins on +44 (0)7711 406769 or at mwilkins38@hotmail.com.
