A Bristol graduate is just a few steps away from securing what’s been described as ‘the best job in the world’.

Holly Smale (BA 2004, MA 2005) was one of thousands who answered an ad for an ‘Island Caretaker’ - to spend six months as custodian of a tropical island in Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, sharing experiences with the world via weekly blogs, photo diaries and video updates.

Now, lucky Holly has made it into the final 50, along with just three other Brits. The candidate who receives the most votes online will join ten other hopefuls selected by Tourism Queensland.

Holly says “I would love this job – it'll be somewhere to live for six months at the very least! Plus I love swimming and writing, so it would be my perfect job.”

Watch Holly’s application for ‘The best job in the world’ and vote for Holly.
