Simon Thompson (BSc 2001) and Adam Robinson (PhD 2007) have recently returned from completing a 6,000 mile charity cycle ride from the UK to East Africa.

The pair set off from Cambridge last September with teammate Marie on the Down Right Kenya cycle challenge in support of Harambee Schools Kenya, the charity which works with rural Kenyan communities to improve the educational prospects of local children. Their team was one of three making the journey in order to raise £60,000, enough to build a primary school for 700 children.

The team surmounted numerous obstacles before alighting at their final destination, the Green House situated in the countryside north-east of Nairobi. They arrived after exactly six months on the road to a welcome of singing school children and cake.
