Time2Share, originally called Bristol Family Support Service, is celebrating its 40th birthday next year and is looking to find the original founders to help it celebrate.

Time2Share was set up in 1972 by medical students at the University of Bristol who, whilst on their placement, realised they wanted to provide more support for families with disabled children. The charity was part of a revolutionary approach to the care of disabled children. At this time, instead of children being sent away, they remained at home whilst student volunteers visited and supported each family.

Over time the charity has expanded to include Bath and North East Somerset, with all types of volunteers, running youth groups as well as a befriending service. But details of the founders has been lost and now staff at Time2Share want to hear from the alumni who set up the project, ideally in time for 40th anniversary celebrations in 2012.
