The weekend’s highlights included a fascinating panel discussion called The Role of the University in the Culture of Bristol City, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Thomas (Hon LLD 2004). Two Emeritus Professors, Bob Evans (PhD 1970) and Stephen Lisney (BSc 1972, BDS 1975, PhD 1978, MA 2005), also gave their Valedictory Lectures to former students, alumni and friends, celebrating their careers and outstanding contribution to the University, and their areas of research.
Emeritus Professor Stephen Lisney said: “The Alumni Weekend was very enjoyable. During lunch I was able to meet some alumni from 1972 (and therefore contemporaries), and we were able to compare how our careers had developed from our common starting point of Bristol. I also was able to meet two of my PhD students again, with whom I had lost touch.”
Trevor Jaggar (BSc 1946) and Eiry Jaggar (BSc 1955) said: “We enormously enjoyed the weekend, partly because of seeing old acquaintances but also because of the interesting programme arranged by the Alumni Relations Office team.”
