Three Bristol alumnae nominated for Small Business Book Awards

Bryony Thomas, Sonja Jefferson and Sharon Tanton

15 May 2014

Three University of Bristol graduates are to go head to head in the Small Business Book Awards 2014, designed to celebrate the best business reads for entrepreneurs, CEOS and managers.

Bryony Thomas (BSc 1999), author of Watertight Marketing, will compete against fellow Bristol alumnae, Sonja Jefferson (BSc 1990) and Sharon Tanton (Cert 1997), co-authors of Valuable Content Marketing, for the judge’s vote in the Marketing category. And all three authors hope to secure the public vote to win a Community Choice award too.

Sharon, Sonja and Bryony are more accustomed to working with each other, than against each other. They all live and work in Bristol, often working with common clients or sharing the conference stage as speakers. Both books were released in January 2013, and both featured as the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Books of the Month last year.

Bryony says:  'Bristol has some phenomenal marketing talent, and I’m thrilled that the world has started to notice. It really is a shame we can’t both win! I hope the city gets behind us by voting for both, or either of our books.'

Sonja adds: 'It’s no coincidence that two books for small businesses have come out of this fantastic city. Bristol has become a thriving centre for entrepreneurial businesses in recent years. We are delighted to help put our city and the small business community on the international map.'

Voting in the Small Business Book Awards is open to the public until Thursday 28 May 2014, and we wish all three authors the very best of luck!
