Courses and programmes
We deliver anatomical teaching for students within the faculties of Health Science and Biomedical Science.
The Centre offers two BSc science programmes; BSc Applied Anatomy and iBSc Functional and Clinical Anatomy. Students in the Faculty of Biomedical Science join Centre based students to take optional units in anatomy. iBSc Functional and Clinical Anatomy is a one year intercalation programme offered to students studying medical, veterinary and dental programmes. It is open to external applicants.
Additionally we teach across the faculty’s professional programmes, providing clinically relevant anatomy teaching for medics, dentists and vets in line with modern curricula and in partnership with the requirements of professional programmes. It is this provision that makes us well placed to host the Gateway Programme. This initiative is a widening participation scheme which is aimed at students that have the potential to join these professional programmes but do not meet the academic criteria to apply directly to them.
A large part of our post graduate teaching provision is delivered within the Vesalius Clinical Training Unit, the CPD division of our Centre, to clinicians and allied health professionals. We also contribute to an MRes degree.
We aim to provide an excellent student experience based upon inspiring and innovative teaching delivered by enthusiastic and committed teaching staff alongside supportive pastoral care and a friendly and caring environment. Active and self-directed independent learning is encouraged while providing a supportive scaffold to promote student confidence.
Bristol is a research-led university: research informs all our teaching, preparing students for competitive working environments and postgraduate study.
