On this programme you will focus on one of the following pathways:
Our vibrant and friendly department offers world-class teaching in three specialist areas, or you may tailor the programme to your own specific interests:
We welcome and encourage applications for postgraduate degrees by research. In addition to topics focusing on single research areas, we actively encourage interdisciplinary research that cuts across the spectrum of archaeological and anthropological studies, or other intellectual disciplines in the Faculty of Arts and beyond. Joint supervision may be provided.
See our departmental research groups for more information on how our research activity is focused within Archaeology and Anthropology.
You can also browse the research topics of our current students to get a better understanding of the range of interests currently being pursued.
You will also benefit from the Graduate School of Arts and Humanities' skills training programme, which allows you to extend your range of academic and professional skills. You may also be given the chance at an appropriate stage to teach undergraduates, and you will be offered training for this purpose, leading to formal accreditation.
Archaeology and Anthropology are among the subjects eligible for AHRC SWW DTP funding. For further details please see the Graduate School of Arts and Humanities funding website.
*New* Cultural Evolution Project Studentship available - closing date 10 February. For further details please see the Graduate School of Arts and Humanities funding pages
The opportunities offered at Bristol are great, and the department has a lot of links to the BBC, who do quite exciting archaeology. I think Bristol gives you a really good grounding, but it’s also just a wonderful place, a great fun city.
