At Bristol, our courses introduce you to the history, theories and practice of anthropology and archaeology, delivered by a friendly academic community at the forefront of their fields of research.
Our courses will equip you with the ability to handle complex data sets and concepts, and to interpret material and literary evidence confidently. There is plenty of opportunity to put theoretical knowledge and skills into practice via field work and practical projects, with each degree providing a different focus on our discipline.

Our student experiences: field trips
All of our first-year students attend an annual field trip to Glastonbury during TB1. Watch some of our former students study contemporary ritual practice in Glastonbury's ancient landscape, in this student-made video:
Our International Field School also takes place at Lower Hazel. This takes place in July of each year and offers up to 10 Semester Credits or 18 ECTS. Our excavation and recording course provides a solid grounding in anthropological and archaeological theory and practice. We also offer an advance Trainee Supervisor scheme that provides a higher tier of training for more experienced students.

Anthropology and Archaeology society
There is an active, student-led Archaeology and Anthropology Society that organises social events, lectures and other extracurricular activities for undergraduates.
International field school
The Archaeology Field Summer School is a two-week course primarily for international students, which provides a unique opportunity to excavate a recently discovered site from the Medieval Anarchy period.
