Perception, People and Places: A Conference in Honour of Professor Mick Aston
10-11 December 2004
Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, Bristol University
Mick Aston, Professor of Landscape Archaeology at the University of Bristol and known to many through the long-running TV series Time Team, retired from the University in Summer 2004. This conference celebrates his teaching, research and energy by bringing together archaeologists who have worked closely with Mick over the years - Mick's colleagues, friends, and former students.
The papers to be presented reflect various aspects of Landscape Archaeology in western Europe which have been influenced in some way by Mick's enthusiasms and insights. Many of the papers focus on Mick's interest in medieval Europe, while others that reflect his connections with the West Midlands and the South West of England. Papers will also focus on the archaeology and history of the medieval church, another of his enduring interests. They are offered as a tribute to his influence, his generosity of spirit and his enthusiasm by his friends.
