Dr Tamar Hodos awarded Getty Research Institute fellowship

21 May 2020

Dr Tamar Hodos has been awarded a prestigious Getty Research Institute fellowship for her ongoing project 'Globalising Luxuries during the Mediterranean's Iron Age'.

The scholarship programme for 2020-21 is focusing on the ancient cultures of the Levant and their relations with the classical world. Lying on the eastern seaboard of the Mediterranean, the Levant was a crucial crossroads between the classical world of Greece and Rome and the kingdoms of the Near East.

Globalising Luxuries explores the production and distribution of luxury objects around the ancient Mediterranean and Mesopotamia, integrating cutting edge scientific methodologies with archaeological, literary and visual culture analyses.
