Research FellowDepartment of Archaeology and Anthropology |
Lectures on sampling strategies and techniques for landscape survey and the practice and interpretation of geophysical survey, in particular through the integration of geographical information systems (GIS).
Research Fellow working full time on the South Cadbury Environs Project (http://www.southcadbury.org.uk), a landscape survey around Cadbury Castle, south east Somerset, of which he is a founding co-director. The chronological range of the survey is from the Mesolithic to Saxon periods. The project is notable for its intensive use of geophysical survey integrated with ploughzone research, as well as several important excavations targeting prehistoric activity. His post is funded the Arts and Humanities Research Board until March 2008. During this four year period the Department of Archaeology will be collaborating with a new joint sponsor, the Institute of Archaeology, University of Oxford. The research will focus in particular on the span from 1000 BC to AD 100.
