The Department of History of Art at Bristol is a thriving centre for the study of visual art and art criticism at one of the UK's leading universities. Staff specialisms range from medieval altarpieces and Tudor portraits to Soviet public monuments, from Victorian aestheticism to German Expressionism. Students are encouraged to explore a diversity of historical periods and critical approaches, and to participate in the stimulating intellectual and social life of the department.
