Academic Transcripts

What are academic transcripts?

An academic transcript is an official document that shows:

Transcripts can be provided in sealed envelopes with the University stamp to prove that the document is authentic; we are unfortunately unable to provide electronic versions.

How much do they cost?

Undergraduates are entitled to free copies of transcripts whilst they are registered students.  Each graduating student will automatically be sent one free copy of the final transcript to their home address within two months of graduation.  Thereafter charges will be applied as follows:

Please note that the policy of one free copy post graduation only began after 2008 therefore any students who graduated prior to 2008 and have not received a free copy will not be entitled to one.

We regret that academic transcripts cannot be issued until payment, if appropriate, has been received.

How do I pay?

Payment can be made by:

Cash:  Paid directly to the Cash Office, Ground Floor of Senate House

Cheques: To be made payable to ‘University of Bristol’ and posted or brought to the Undergraduate Coordinator at the following address: Faculty of Arts, 3-5 Woodland Road, Bristol BS8 1TB

Credit/Debit Cards: Card details to be provided on a Card Payment Form.  The form should be either posted to the above address or alternatively faxed to +44 (0)117 33 17469

How long will they take?

Normally transcripts are prepared within 10 working days from the receipt of the application, except during busy periods (especially following graduation and the autumn term).  It is therefore a good idea to order your transcripts as early as possible to ensure they are ready in time for any deadlines.

How can I apply for an academic transcript?

To apply for an academic transcript, please apply using the transcript request form (MS Word, 48.5kb). This can be completed electronically and e-mailed to the Faculty Office, or printed off and completed and then sent in. We are not currently able to take payment online.

Alternatively you can visit the Faculty Office in the basement of 3-5 Woodland Road  to complete an application in person, or send an email to artsf-office@bristol.ac.uk.

What other documents can the Faculty Office provide?

The Faculty Office can  provide 'confirmation of student status' letters. These can be requested on the same form as the transcripts. The Faculty Office also provides letters for council tax exemption.
