University of Bristol Symphony Orchestra
John Pickard, conductor
Auditorium, Victoria Rooms
Hindemith, Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber
Bruckner, Symphony No.8 (1890 revision; ed. Haas)
Bruckner described the Eighth as ‘a mystery’. The University Symphony Orchestra couples this, the mightiest of all Bruckner’s works, with a dazzling showpiece composed by Paul Hindemith during the Second World War, when he was living in the USA.
Tickets: balcony £15/£10 concs; stalls £11/£8 concs available from shop.bris.ac.uk from the beginning of November and at the box office on the evening.
