P.M. Warren Visiting Professors Announced for 2017/18

We are delighted to announce that for 2017/18 we will host two P.M. Warren Visiting Professors in Aegean Prehistory - Constantinos Paschalidis and Constance von RĂ¼den

Dr Constantinos Paschalidis is Curator of Antiquities at the Department of Prehistoric, Egyptian, Cypriot and Oriental Collections, National Archaeological Museum, Athens. He intends to study and subsequently present a chronicle of research and detailed taphonomy of Shaft Grave IV in Grave Circle A at Mycenae, the most rich-in-gold sepulcher in Grave Circle A. 

Dr Constance von Rüden is Junior-professor for Mediterranean Prehistory at Ruhr University Bochum. She will be looking at 'Aegean' type wall paintings from Tell el-Dab'a, specifically the practice that went into making large scale figures.

Meanwhile, Dr Colin Macdonald (former Knossos Curator and Honorary Fellow of the Department of Classics and Archaeology at Edinburgh) who was elected last year, is due to join us in late April 2017.

Previous recipients have included: Dr Peter Tomkins (Sheffield Centre for Aegean Archaeology and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Dr Metaxia Tsipopoulou (Director of the Petras Excavations), Professor Diamantis Panagiotopoulos (Heidelberg), Dr Jacke Phillips (SOAS); Dr Marisa Marthari (Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport), Professor Cynthia Shelmerdine (Austin, Texas); Professor Krzystof Nowicki (Warsaw); Professor Anne-Louise Shallin (Swedish Institute at Athens), and Professor Helene Whittaker (Gotenburg, formerly Tromso).
