Donors

Philanthropic gifts are essential to the Institute's work

Since its inception, the Institute has received donations amounting to almost £1 million, with considerable further sums forthcoming or pledged. Without this generous support from many corporate and individual donors, it would be impossible for the Institute to carry out its manifold activities, especially its support for talented young scholars through the provision of postdoctoral research fellowships, giving them the opportunity to pursue their research and develop their ideas in dialogue and collaboration with members of the Faculty. We most gratefully acknowledge the help that we have received from the donors listed below. Please note that some donors wish to remain anonymous, while contributors to the Hammond Memorial Appeal and to the A.D. Momigliano Endowed Fund are too numerous to be mentioned individually: their omission from the list below by no means implies lesser appreciation of their vital support.

Our goal is to raise an endowment of £2m, which would ensure that we will always have at least one postdoctoral fellow in post and are able to focus other resources on developing research activities and increasing our support for postgraduate students as well as more senior researchers. Securing this level of funding will ensure that Bristol becomes a permanent home for young, world-class scholars, whose work will expand our understanding of the classical world and its contribution to modern life. If you wish to discuss the possibility of making a donation to support the work of the Institute, please contact the Director, Professor Yasmin Haskell, or Ms Katie McKeogh in the Campaigns & Alumni Relations Office.
