More about this project

The expansion of global society and corresponding growth of transnational history raise fundamental questions about the practice of art beyond national schools. My analysis of cultural pacifism has facilitated new approaches to nationalism and war in Art History and the wider field of Cultural History. I am leading an international, multi-disciplinary team of scholars on a collaborative research project about art and internationalism which has already resulted in an edited book. Projects in hand include a monograph and exhibition about the artist Vanessa Bell that will challenge legends of British parochialism by reassessing her contribution to European modernism.
