After graduating from the University of Bristol, Cheryl spent some 7 years as a research scientist with BP working on colloid and interface chemistry problems associated with the oil industry. Cheryl returned to Bristol University to carry out research for her doctorate on the colloidal properties of associative thickeners. Cheryl has also worked at the University of the West of England on the surface properties of semiconductors.
Cheryl joined the BCC in October 1994. Since then she has built up considerable experience in a wide range colloid and interface science topics, due to the many any varied commercial projects with which she has been directly involved. As principal scientist, Cheryl is concerned with all aspects of the running of the Bristol Colloid Centre laboratory and the quality of the experimental work carried out there, both commercial and by the research students based within the laboratory.
