The Spring School in Colloid Science is our flagship course and has been a fixture of the School of Chemistry since the early 1970's.

Comments from past delegates include:

“Glad I came, have learnt a lot, especially the theoretical background to colloid science”

“Instrument demos and the group exercise were good to break up the lectures”

“Practical demonstration sessions were very useful and interesting - I learnt a lot in these sessions”

"Liked the breadth of subjects covered with notes and a book”

“An excellent course, very well delivered lectures that were very comprehensive”

The aim of the course is to provide a broad-based, but detailed introduction to colloids and an overview of some theoretical developments and experimental advances. The course will provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to talk directly to experts in this field and to stimulate ideas for innovative applications of colloid science. The course will consist of lectures, interactive sessions and a group problem solving task.

The course will be of interest to professional scientists, engineers, laboratory managers and technology suppliers in a wide range of industries who wish to update and advance their knowledge in Colloid Science. It is also suitable as an introduction for physical scientists with no previous experience of the subject. Usually delegates are either science graduates or possess an equivalent qualification.

Fees include all tuition costs, a comprehensive set of lecture notes, lunches and refreshments during the day and a Course Dinner. Discounts on fees are available to participants attending the course from companies who are Members of the Bristol Colloid Centre. The course will consist of lectures, interactive sessions and a group problem-solving task.
