New Bristol Heart Institute Hospital
The new Bristol Heart Institute Hospital opened its doors to patients in May 2009. This state of the art £57million centre unites cardiology and cardiac surgery, as well as cardiac imaging and cardiac research. The new BHI medical centre is part of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust working in partnership with the University of Bristol. The official opening will be in autumn 2009.
On October 12, the Princess Royal officially opened the new Bristol Heart Institute (BHI) Medical Centre. The £61 million, state-of-the-art Department of Health funded regional cardiothoracic centre has been taking in patients since May this year. She was given a tour of the new hospital by Dr Peter Wilde, Head of the Division of Specialised Services where she met and chatted with staff and patients.
