Inaugural Bristol BioDesign Institute Conference

Lecture Theatre, School of Chemistry, Cantock's Close Bristol BS8 1TS

We are excited to announce the Inaugural Bristol BioDesign Institute Conference at the University of Bristol

The Bristol BioDesign Institute (BBI) is one of the University of Bristol’s seven specialist research institutes and brings together BrisSynBio, the SynBio Centre for Doctoral Training, industry, policy makers, and public engagement programs.

The BBI will be officially launched this year by hosting our first annual conference, opened by University of Bristol Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Hugh Brady. Our academic conference will be closed by Molly Stevens, Professor of Biomedical Materials and Regenerative Medicine in the Institute of Engineering at Imperial College London. Her work comprises innovative bio and nano-materials as diagnostic platforms, medical implants, 3D tissue scaffolds, and advancements in tissue engineering.

In the evening we invite all delegates and members of the public to attend a lecture delivered by Professor Nadrian C. Seeman from the Department of Chemistry at New York University. Professor Seeman is renowned for inventing the field of DNA nanotechnology and recently received the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Chemistry.

We are inviting early career researchers to make presentations in the area of biodesign. This might include researchers in the fields of synthetic biology, molecular biology, regenerative medicine, chemistry, life, physical and engineering. We also welcome applications from researchers to display and present posters throughout the day.

Abstract submission deadline: 23 March 2018

Abstract submissions: Please complete the BBI abstract template (Office document, 319kB) and email to brissynbio-info@bristol.ac.uk

We strongly encourage delegates to submit abstracts for consideration for oral or poster presentations, however if you only wish to be considered for a poster presentation you can make this clear on the abstract template. Posters should be A0 size and portrait orientation.

We will inform delegates if they have been selected to make an oral presentation no later than Friday 13 April 2018.
