Excellent Ph.D. theses

6 December 2011

The Ph.D. theses of two SoBS graduate students have won faculty commendations for excellence.

The Ph.D. theses of Lizzy Ruszala and Ellie Whitaker have both received Sciences Faculty commendations for excellence. While Ph.D. degrees are not graded in Bristol, each year the Sciences Faculty singles out a handful of the ca.150 Ph.D.s each year as exceptional. Lizzy worked in Prof. Alistair Hetherington's group, on aspects of stomatal function and development in the lycophyte genus Selaginella. Ellie did her Ph.D. on animal camouflage with Prof. Innes Cuthill.
