Connecting the not-for-profit sector with students
Skills Bridge is an externally-facing web platform aimed at organisations looking to connect with Bristol’s universities on student engagement projects with a sustainability focus. The platform provides examples of volunteering, community based learning and internship projects. It also provides a single point of contact through to both universities in Bristol.
We have successfully worked with over 200 non profit organisations in a variety of ways including; Greater Bedminster Community Partnership, Soil Association, Transition Bristol, Bristol Pound, VOSCUR, Baby Bank Network, One25, Schumacher Institute, Paper Artistic Development Bristol and Avon Chinese Women’s Network, Community in Partnership Knowle West, Concern Universal, Exeter Ethiopia Link and Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust.
If you are a community partner interested in working with students visit the Skills Bridge website.
“It has been a really positive experience for the board to work with the students. We were able to establish links to a previously untapped pool of knowledge and expertise. We felt through conversations and meetings they really got to understand our business. All the work culminated in a finalised business plan that the organisation has since submitted as part of the Community Asset Transfer process. The business plan was successfully received and has allowed (us) to move forward with the process to secure a new lease for the building and receive grant funding from BCC.” Community Partners in Knowle West
