I applied for a trading job in Investment Banking whilst completing my degree. It was always a dream and I was well prepared to work and play hard. Working life is great and trading is fun every single day.
In my current job...
I've jumped off my graduate programme at West LB early to move to an FX and Commodities trading role. Six months in and I have my own trading limits. I love it. There is a lot of pressure, but it's part of the job. I want to gain valuable experience here and take on greater responsibilities.
Having a UoB degree...
A degree was required for this position, but no specific subject. My degree, though not directly related, prepared me for the analytical side of my job. Also, coming from UoB does help, it's a top name and employers love it.
Hints/tips...
Don't get too attached to any one firm that you want to apply to, spread your options out.
