  • The refurbishment of the former Waterstone's bookshop will be undertaken by Bray & Slaughter, a building and joinery company with experience of refurbishing other parts of the University including the 5th Floor of Senate House, the Hawthorns Student Residences and the Graduate School of Arts & Humanities.
  • An 8ft hoarding is being erected around the front of the former bookshop with work on site due to start on Tuesday 3 May and should be completed week commencing Monday 8 August 2011. If all goes according to plan, the new Careers Service accommodation should open to students and graduates a week or so later following the move of staff and resources from 11 Priory Road.

The Careers Service will move from its base at 11 Priory Road to Tyndall Avenue in the summer vacation 2011. All student-facing facilities and services will open in the former Waterstone's book shop in time for the start of the next academic year, including:
  • JobShop for term-time and vacation jobs
  • training spaces used for careers events
  • consultation rooms for one-to-one advice and guidance with careers advisers, and
  • all print and electronic resources
This move will enable the Careers Service to provide a much improved physical environment to enable students to effectively participate in careers information, advice and guidance activities. We will occupy a higher profile location within the precinct and we look forward to supporting more students.
