Bristol PLuS Award - Requirements

There are four elements of the Bristol PLuS Award:
1. 50 hours Work/Life Experience
2. A minimum of 4 workshops (to include 1 related to interview skills and 1 related to job-market awareness)
3. An Intensive Skills Activity
4. 300 word Report
Please read on for full details.
1. 50 HOURS WORK/LIFE EXPERIENCE
Experience can be:
You must have completed at least 50 hours experience.
The experience must have taken place while you were a registered student at the University of Bristol.
Please note that the 50 hours can be split over various periods of experience at different places - it does not all have to be done at the same time.
Experience cannot be:
Credited placements towards your degree, e.g. year in industry does not count.
You need to provide the contact details of a referee who can confirm that you carried out the experience. Referees will be contacted once you have submitted your evidence for the award.
2. WORKSHOPS
You need to attend a minimum of 4 workshops.
At least one workshop must be on interview skills.

The remaining two workshops can be any other employability related workshops that you have attended.
Please note that workshops must be at least 30 minutes long and must not be credit-bearing (i.e. part of your degree).

3. INTENSIVE SKILLS ACTIVITY
During an intensive skills activity you will have:
gained employability-related skills e.g. teamwork, communication.
participated in an interactive manner (i.e. not all passive listening)
participated for a minimum of 7 hours
reviewed the skills you have gained from the activity/event e.g. report, review meeting, presentation.
Please note:
Your 'intensive skills activity' cannot be the same as your 'work/life experience'.
You will not be able to use the same activity for the Outstanding Award.

If you have done something that might count as an intensive skills activity please email us at careers-plusaward@bristol.ac.uk and explain how it has allowed you to meet the criteria of the intensive skills activity.
4. REPORT
300 words
We ask you to look back on and review the experiences you are giving as evidence for your Bristol PLuS Award and what you feel you have learnt from them. Reflection is a transferable skill required by employers and you will undoubtedly have to reflect on your experiences when applying for internships and graduate jobs. It is also encouraged through appraisal schemes and through professional development courses.
