What is a University of Bristol (UoB) Internship?

UoB Internships are jobs for students that will offer flexibility to both student and employer, and will offer learning and quality experience for the student and will assist the employer in being able to flexibly recruit at any time of the year. The scheme is split into two categories:

  1. UoB Campus Internships within the university departments
  2. University of Bristol Internship scheme with employers locally and nationally

Both schemes offer students an opportunity to gain valuable work experience which can either be on a part time basis during term time or full time during the vacation period.

UoB Internships within the university

The UoB Internship scheme within the university has been running since 2006. Any department in the university can offer an internship to a student. Some examples of past internships include Publications intern in the Alumni department, an IS Assistant within the Careers Service and a Market Research intern with the Registrar.

The UoB Internship scheme within the university offers students the opportunity to gain quality, valuable work experience in a variety of different areas, the internships are flexible around your studies and you also gain additional careers support from the Careers Service.

"The support received from the Careers service has been really useful, especially the way in which we are guided in how to make the most of our internship in our future career paths."

UoB Internships with Local Employers

The UoB Internship scheme with local employers is an opportunity for any local employers (normally around the Bristol and Bath area) to employ a student to work on either a specific project or on an on going basis. The employers involved range from small companies through to large graduate recruiters.

The local employers' scheme offers students a chance to gain valuable work experience and develop contacts with organisations in the local area, as well developing new skills and expanding your CV.

"Valuable work experience, much better part time work than I would have otherwise found"
