Professor Keisuke Makino, Vice President, Director-General, Kyoto University
The two universities organised the one-day workshop to present and discuss research on ICT and creative media, and to compare technology transfer activities. The aim of the Workshop was to develop areas where the two universities could collaborate.

As well as presentations by both universities, there were technical presentations from industry experts including NTT DoCoMo, Toshiba Labs Bristol and HP Labs Bristol.
The Workshop was opened by University of Bristol Vice-Chancellor Professor Eric Thomas and Professor Keisuke Makino of Kyoto University. It was chaired by Professor Nishan Canagarajah, Research Director for the Faculty of Engineering at Bristol. Professor Joe McGeehan, Director of the Centre for Communications Research gave the keynote speech.
The one-day Workshop builds on the existing partnership between Bristol and Kyoto University, which originally came into force in October 2008. Both universities are working together in industrial, governmental and academic collaboration.
