What is Bridge?
BRIDGE is a web-based network being launched in spring 2009 by Bristol PhD students from CEAS (Centre for East Asian Studies) for all postgraduates and scholars interested in or researching East Asia. It’s a multi-disciplinary network and we welcome people from any university in any country. Even if you are at the postgraduate stage of your studies, if you are interested in East Asia we would be delighted for you to join us.
BRIDGE aims to provide a way for you to get connected; to share information on research that may interest you – academic and otherwise; to form a community of people who care about East Asia; and to find out about others working in your field.
Not just a Network!
Over the coming months we will be organising various events and activities which all our members will be informed of and invited to participate in. As our network grows, we will be able to hold events further a-field so if you’re a long way from Bristol, don’t worry! Our current members are from all over the UK, China and Japan.
Our first BRIDGE event was a Taiwanese short film night held at Bristol University, UK. This was a free event at which Dr Ming-Yeh Rawnsley from the University of Leeds kindly gave a brilliant presentation on five contemporary Taiwanese short films, screened for the first time in the UK.
