Profile

Professor Ka Ho Mok took his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Hong Kong and gained his PhD at the London School of Economics. He has an international reputation as a researcher, teacher, writer and editor on social development, public policy and governance issues. Before joining the University, Professor Mok was Associate Dean and Associate Professor at the City University of Hong Kong. He was President of the Comparative Education Society of Hong Kong, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Educational Research Association and also Secretary General of the Hong Kong Sociological Association.

Professor Mok has been researching and publishing extensively in comparative education policy in East Asia, contemporary social and political development studies in China and East Asia, and comparative governance and public policy in East Asia. In the last decade, he has published 12 books and monographs, and many articles in internationally refereed journals. The list of publications in his name will soon include a major book on Education Reform and Education Policy in East Asia. He is currently a core editorial member of the international journal Globalization, Society and Education and Series Editor of Contemporary Issues in Education Series of Marshall Cavendish Academic International.

Professor Mok has excellent research links with institutions over the Asia and Pacific region. He is currently International Consultant of Osaka University, Japan. In the past ten years, he has been invited as Visiting Professor, Visiting Scholar / Fellow by institutions across various parts of the world such as University of Sydney, Queensland University of Technology and Murdoch University in Australia; National Institute of Education in Singapore; Institute of Education and London School of Economics of the University of London, and University of Manchester in the U.K. Professor Mok is also well connected with institutions in Taiwan and mainland China. He has been working closely with academic and research partners from Tsing Hua University and People’s University (Beijing), Zhongshan University (Guangzhou), Zhejiang Univeristy (Hangzhou), East China Normal University and Fudan University (Shanghai), Tamkang University, National Taiwan Normal University and National Chi Nan International University (Taiwan).

Professor Mok is a visiting Professor at the Centre for East Asian Studies.
