Professor Ka Ho Mok, Director of the Centre for East Asian Studies was invited by the Department of Sociology, The Catholic University of America, to give a keynote speech at the 'Che -Fu Lee Memorial Symposium 2005 with a theme on 'Understanding Globalization' in Washington DC from 15-16 April 2005. His paper on 'Critical Reflections on Globalization Challenges: The Responses of Post-Mao China' was warmly received by conference participants.

Professor Mok was also invited by the National Council on Education, Vietnam Government, as International Advisor. He was invited to give a paper sharing his research experiences on 'Marketization and Decentralization of Education in Mainland China' in Hanoi, Vietnam from 11-12 April 2005.
