Maurizio Marinelli, Senior Lecturer in East Asian Studies has presented various papers during the month of May.
Maurizio was invited by Prof. Harriet Evans to present a paper entitled "Chinese Political Language from Mao Zedong to Hu Jintao: A Case Study of Evolution, Involution and Devolution" at the University of Westminster on 16 May 2006. The session was part of the Centre for the Study of Democracy Seminar Series.
Maurizio also attended a Conference in Lecce, Italy called "Emotions and their traditional concepts and categorizations in East Asia" (27-28 May 2006). The conference was organised by Dr. Giusi Tamburello (University of Lecce) as part of a research project on emotions in East Asia coordinated by Prof. Paolo Santangelo (University of Naples). Maurizio’s paper was entitled "The Public Nature of the Intellectuals in post-socialist China: A Question of Emotional Capital?".
At the University of Bristol, Maurzio contributed to the following two workshops:
