Why leave a legacy?

We have received legacy gifts ranging from £500 to over £3,000,000. These gifts are part of a long heritage of legacy giving that has sustained the University since its first days.

Regardless of their size, each and every one of these legacies has had a tremendous impact on the various areas of University life that have benefited from it – from students to research, to the maintenance of our city’s great iconic buildings.

As the university sector faces its toughest times yet, legacies are going to play an even more important role in securing our progression.

If you are interested in finding out more about how you could support tomorrow’s students and researchers at Bristol with your legacy, we may have already answered some of your questions in your questions answered.

Specifying where your money will go

You can be very specific about how your legacy will be spent. For instance, you may decide to support your old department, or talented students with low financial means. You could provide funds towards a particular area of academic, scientific or medical research, or you could support our animal welfare or our arts and social sciences programmes. The choice is yours.
