Help us to ensure that ability, not the ability to pay, shapes our student body, and gives young research stars the opportunity to explore their potential under our banner.
Importance
Bristol students earn their place through merit alone, but prospective undergraduates with great potential may be put off from applying or accepting a place at Bristol due to the financial demands of higher education.
We must ensure that finances are never a deterrent to the best. Some Bristol undergraduates shine even over and above their peers, an achievement that should be celebrated, encouraging others to attain their best too.
World-class achievement in an intensive academic setting depends on attracting remarkable and highly gifted postgraduates capable of undertaking pioneering research.
It is Bristol’s aim to select students from around the world, based purely on the grounds of academic merit and not whether they can afford to pay to complete a research degree.
Further, once postgraduates are here, we must focus on the challenge of preparing leaders for the complex 21st-century world, the need for creative and collaborative approaches and the changing nature of professional and academic career paths.
Impact
Supporting the undergraduate fund will ensure that access to a Bristol undergraduate education is not blocked by financial barriers, and will enable super-achieving Bristol students to be celebrated.
Supporting the postgraduate fund will ensure that we can compete for the world’s best postgraduates, in a keen global market for the brightest people.
